I’m excited to share a new project currently in development at Fodaris Studios—a refillable disk-bound sketchbook, designed with flexibility and longevity in mind. Right now, we’re in the prototyping stage, focusing on hardcover versions in three different sizes.

This idea originated from a feeling many artists are familiar with: the anxiety of “ruining” a sketchbook page. That hesitation can sometimes stop creativity in its tracks, especially when you know every mark you make will stay visible each time you flip through the book, or when someone else does.

The goal of this sketchbook is to alleviate that pressure. With a disk-binding system, artists can easily swap out or rearrange pages, add fresh sheets, or remove ones they’re not happy with. It also reduces strain on the spine, which we hope will help the books last longer with continued use. It also allows users to remove pages for reference and return them to the book once they're finished.


These early versions are being tested by a group of local artists and designers. The spines are being 3D printed using tools available right here at Fodaris Studios, and we’re continuing to adjust materials and features based on feedback.
